I. Definition
This website is a companion piece to an independent study program (a course of study the student builds themselves) I am working on at Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Washington University for my B.A. in transpersonal mythology and folklore. This course is a survey of the history, functions, and methodologies of magick and witchcraft. The primary focus of my studies would be on practices from Indo-European cultures, but would also need to draw on other global cultures for comparison and completeness.
Magick and witchcraft are practices as old as humanity, and have been both revered and reviled at different points in history. For the purposes of this class, I will use the spelling “’magick” preferred my many occultists and practitioners to differentiate between this tradition and slight-of-hand style illusions performed by stage magicians.
